Chapter 11
"Arthur?" Lucy called as she stood up surprised
"We need to talk" he said looking serious and was about to turned back, to lead the way actually.
"Talk? About what?" Lucy frowned, though she was surprised and confused but deep inside she knows she's happy, really happy to see him again. She then wondered if she'd even thought him coming would have make her feel the way she's feeling at this moment but she promise herself not to show it.
Arthur could noticed the frown she'd put on, he could see her expression had change and holding this his serious look and maintaining his stern posture will lead him nowhere here but more of what he'd wanted to put an end to.
His look softened as he let his hand slid off the knob he'd been holding tightly due to the way he was standing. He pulled up his overcoat and running his hand through his hair, he said in a calm voice "Look. I'm sorry" he paused as he dipped both his hands into her trouser's pocket standing uprightly and facing the pretty Lucy whose expression had softened a bit
Still maintaining his calm voice he said "can we talk please?"
Her heart sang. Hearing him talk this way, how calm and intriguing the voice had been with this soft sweet killer look coupled with the way he'd stand. Perfect!. Just perfect and sexy!. She could imagine herself cuddled in his arms.
"Can we?" He gestured outdoor
jerked off her thought she nodded.
"But, to where" she asked inquisitively as she got to the door, beside him
"A suitable place" he smiled and his smile made her smile.
"Hey girl going out?" Joy called as she approached them, she was coming from the door with the lunch the delivery boy had been able to deliver within five minutes as due to urgency
Lucy nodded and she waved off the lunch box in her hand and asked "no more hungry?"
As if Lucy's stomach had seen the box, it grumbled but she quickly held it, preventing the sound from getting loud as she wave off at Joy to eat it instead. She'd hope she'll go take something at any nearby eatery after the talk.
Arthur started off the engine after they'd entered and knowing the drive could be as silent as graveyard, he put on a song. Undoubtedly a song by Tatiana again, "Recklessly"
Lucy laughed immediately the singer's voice came up.
"She again?" She asked but almost in a statement
"Wha...you mean?" He asked confused and also surprised she'd laughed. What has make her laugh? He thought
"Tatiana" she raised her brow
"You really like her, don't you?" She asked smiling broadly
"Oh yeah" he laughed wondering why he'd done so.
"She's my best female musician actually" he added and she nodded
"Which mean I'm right" she said. Her face bright as ever. She wondered what's wrong and why she'd been this happy. Just this morning she'd ignored this guy and walked out on him, promising herself never to see him or if at all she did, she wouldn't pay him her attention but here she is, laughing wholeheartedly, smiling and discussing with him. Is she weak?. Maybe it'd been better to be weak than strong.
"Hmmm. Yeah, and you?" He asked smiling richly as he stole a glance at her
"Hmmmm, do I really have one?" She asked uncertainly
"You mean you don't have a favorite musician?" Arthur outburst made her laughed as he asked with his eyes open wided, probably in disbelief
"No, not really. Just that I listened to all songs but any soul music is a go on my side"
"Oh really?" He laughed
"Yeah" She shrugged and quiet she went.
A new dawn began as the car continued in silence but thanks to Tatiana's song going on in the background, the nature would have be more odd. Arthur who seems dissatisfied about the the sudden quiet tried breaking it by bringing up a conversation but to no avail as he wonder what kind of interesting conversation he can which will enliven Lucy whose expression could not be define at the moment.
"You said we need to talk" Lucy suddenly asked as he drove towards a restaurant
"Yeah" he nodded relieved she'd talk to him again
"but not in the car" he added as he drove into the restaurant
"But in the restaurant?" She asked sounding a bit surprise
"Odd" she rolled her eyes. Actually, she'd expected a quiet place such as a tea or coffee shop or somewhere more quiet to why he'd let them come out.
"Yeah and which is why you should stop concealing that grumbling stomach and let it have what it want"
Hearing this Lucy, initially surprised, burst into laughter as to how he'd known
"So paying attention to me all the way?" She asked beaming broadly.
