"Well, Linda and I talked about it yesterday's night so we thought you both should go meet Fred in Cambridge, or what do you think?"
"Not bad" Lucy shrugged but deep inside she's happy she'll be able to meet her brother again, it's been a while she'd seen him physically, infact it's been three years now. Fred had always been reluctant to come home and she could remember he'd been lured home the last time he came which was three years ago. Mom, who'd miss him and want him to come home after much persuasion had fake an illness and planned with the family doctor who recommended that he'd come home as soon as possible as his Mom illness is severe. Fred hadn't wait until he was called twice. The next day it was his call that woke Lucy up saying he's on flight.
Lucy smiled remembering the aftermath of the whole plan up. It'd been funny as Fred was quite angry and pissed off but after staying the whole day with his family, he realized how much he'd miss them and had stayed a week before leaving back to school.
"But have you tell him?" She asked raising her brow
"No, not yet" Doris replied
"But I'll soon" she quickly added as she put back her glasses and with her forefinger tipped it on her face correctly
"So, is that all?" She asked when she saw her getting back on her keyboard again
"No" she simply said still concentrating on what seems could keep her busy and not able to discuss much
"We still have a lot of talk"
"And what could that be about?"
"I think we should continue this when we get home" she said as she remove her glasses and picked up her black overcoat hanged on the chair
"Going out?"
"Yeah, have an appointment with a customer" she said putting on her overcoat
"Lest I forget" she suddenly said as she sat down back
"What's going on between you and Alex?" she asked with her brow raised though not really looking serious
"Go...going on like how?" Lucy stuttered, she wondered if she'd seen them yesternight.
Doris smiled and wave her off as she stood up again " don't worry, let's talk about that later" she winked, took her bag and left.
Lucy shut her eyes for a while and sighed, she wondered why her heart had thumped on hearing that question from her Mom. She wondered if it'd be the best to keep it from her or open up. Trying to get the thought off her mind she brought out her phone input her earpiece and on the data, even though she knew she had not much friends to chat with, she would at least go through some news and will be able to read stories as that's her specialization online.
She put her earpiece on and started moving her head to the songs from her phone while she scroll through her phone and luckily she find her brother, who rarely come online or chat online. She hi him and he replied.
Happily she tried to get into conversation with him and inform him what Doris had told her but he'd gone offline. She dropped the phone on her stomach exhaustedly and removed the earpiece from her eyes without detaching it from the phone, then she lied down to get some sleep.
Arthur kept wandering why Lucy had not pick up his calls. This is his thirteenth time of him calling but no response.
Is this what she'd planned on doing? Leaving because of him? Refusing to pick his calls? Probably staying far away from him, Ignoring him which he mean he might not see her anymore or probably see her but not get her attention as before. His head spun at the thought of this, his hand trembled without cold and her body shivered, he couldn't stand the thought of that coming to pass or happening.
He tried calling again, twice but no response coming through. Swiftly he stood up as he dropped his phone on the sofa and rushed upstairs.
Lucy could still be seen on the sofa as she's already fast asleep, her earpiece still plugged to her phone which is hindering it from ringing out though the phone is on the verge of falling down as she'd carelessly handle it while sleeping just then Joy knocked twice but there was no response so she entered and find Lucy sleeping and the phone which is already falling so quickly she tried catching it patiently, though she succeeded in getting the phone. She'd made a sudden noise in the process which had woke Lucy up.
"Hey what's that?" She cried out as she jerked up terrified.
"Saved this " she said as she wave the phone at her and she sighed
"Thanks"
She sat up on the sofa gesturing at Joy to sit beside her.
"I'm hungry" she mumbled after some minutes of getting herself back from Joy's gist and jokes
"And we can't go out leaving this place alone. Mom will have us boiled if she find out" she added
"You shouldn't worry, I'll just call a delivery boy to get it delivered" Joy said as she asked her what she'll like to eat which she replied.
Lucy checked the time and it was half past two.
"Are you sure if the delivery boy will be fast about it?" Lucy asked as Joy made her way out to make the telephone call.
"Sure, I'll just let him know it's urgent. He'll never want to loose a customer will he?" she laughed and asked rhetorically as she made her way out.
Lucy is just having time to check her phone. She swiped it on and unlock.
Fifteen missed calls?
From who?
She thought and just as she was about to check, the door flung opened and looking up? She looked surprise, she thought she'd been dreaming until she'd pinched herself twice.
