Chapter 12
Crystal Palace of Aroma is one of the biggest restaurant in the city and it's well known for it's delicious meal, nice and qualified workers, big and crystalline building and the numerous customers they're always having.
Arthur and Lucy picked an empty table which was at the edge and immediately they sat down one of the waiters appeared before them and in a modest and Italian tone the italish guy welcome them as he extended one of the menu to Arthur and just as he was about extending the other one to Lucy, her phone rang and in an attempt to bring it out from her bag she couldn't collect her own menu to choose but she'd trust Arthur would know the best to pick.
"I'll go with his choice" she said to the waiter as she brought out her phone and seeing it was Fred who'd called, she picked it and without letting him talk, she said
"Hey Fred, can you call me back? Quite busy now" with this she hung up the call thinking Fred's call is just one of the normal or casual call which will have take up to an hour and which she have no choice but to just evade at the moment
Hanging up the call the fifteen missed calls she'd seen earlier came up on the screen and she decided to check it. Seeing it was Arthur, she became surprise as she opened her big teddy eyes wide in shock.
So Arthur had called her severally today. and with no reply?. She thought and it dawn on her he'd come to meet her not for any reason but because She'd not pick her call. She slowly dipped her phone back into her bag as she raise her head to face him.
Just then the waiter came back with the food ordered and set it on the table. Arthur had ordered her best food, French toast with syrup but she'd barely notice as she stared at him, thinking of what he's up to.
"Hey, didn't you like it?" He called and asked seeing she'd not smile at the presence of the food as she used to.
"Of course, she replied as her attention was diverted to the table and seeing what he'd order, she smiled at it while Arthur who'd been expecting that also smiled.
For some minutes, he watched her eating heartily
" not eating? " Lucy said realizing he'd not been eating
"Oh no, just that I'm not really hungry"
"Then, so am I?" She said as she stopped eating
"What?, I mean. Okay I'm going to eat now" he said as he took a bite
"Good" she smiled as she continue eating
"Welcome back ma'am" Joy greeted as Doris approached her,
"Yeah, How is everything?" She asked
"Good" she replied
"And what about Lucy" she asked expecting to have meet both of them together, gisting and laughing as usual
"She just went out"
"Out?" She frowned
"Yeah, Arthur came to pick her"
"Oh really" she nodded
"Thanks" she added as she made her way to her office.
Doris sighed as she dropped her bag and just as she was about sitting down her phone rang and she picked it up after checking the caller to be Linda.
"Hey babe, what's up?" Doris smiled
"Hey Doris Bad thing is up" Linda replied worriedly at the other side
"What's that? Are you okay?" Doris replied startled and worried
"Anderson is back" she said almost in a whisper
"What!" Doris exclaimed as she emerged from her seat
"And with Ben" this time Linda said tearily as fear beclouded her voice
Doris, startled and shocked got her mouth covered in her palm as she stuttered "Oh my God! oh my Lucy, my daughter"
"Please conceal Lucy and yourself for now okay?" Linda said but she'd barely finished before Doris hung up the call. She'd get it, she didn't need to be told.
Author and Lucy had finish eating and after a while of Arthur getting himself together, he sighed and started
"Lucy, I'm...."
Lucy's phone rang and interrupted. Checking who's calling and realizing it her mum, she raised her forefinger at Arthur telling him it's the one she must pick.
"Hello Mom" Lucy said as she put the phone to her ear and immediately, Arthur's phone rang too
"Why, what happened Mom?" Lucy replied her mom's conversation from the other side while Arthur after a glance at his phone picked it up.
"Hello Mom" he said putting the phone to his ear
"What?" He said gripping hard at the car key in his other hand.
"When?" He added.
Lucy was the first to drop the call, she look worried and confused as she anxiously await Arthur to finish with his call.
Dropping the call,
Arthur looked at Lucy indefinitely as he said
"It's my Mom, she want me to be with her any moment"
"Same here" Lucy replied
"Then let's go, I'll drop you" he said as he stood up.
"Don't worry" she said standing up
"She said I must come alone" with this she left leaving Arthur a little bit tensed but he quickly girded up and left.
