Chapter 13
"Hello Mom" Arthur called as he was about entering his car
"Hello Arthur, are you there?" Linda asked from the other side
"No, just wanna confirm the name of the place again" he said as he shut the door
"Park in coffee shop, okay?."
"Okay"
"I'm there now, please be fast" she said worriedly again and Arthur hung up, started the engine and sped off
Lucy just entered looking troubled as she asked Joy about her Mom.
"She's in her office" Joy answered looking surprise and confuse
"Oh my God, Lucy" Doris called as she rushed towards her daughter with her bags in her hand
"Are you alright?" She asked touching her over and over again
"I'm okay Mom but what's wrong" she asked looking worried
"Come on let's go home"
Turning to Joy she added "Joy I'm done for today okay?"
"Yes ma'am" Joy replied with a slight bow
"And I might not even come tomorrow just take care of everything okay?" She added breathing heavily
"Yes ma'am" she said again
"Mom?" Lucy called looking more surprise
"Let's go baby" she said as she held her hand and they rushed out
Linda sat down looking worried, she checked her wrist watch and was about calling when Arthur entered the coffee shop.
"Hey, here" she whispered waving her hand to call his attention
"Hey Mom" Arthur called as he got to the table
"Sit down" Linda said gesturing at the chair besides her
"Mom, can you just tell me what's wrong? You said my Dad is back, where is him?" He asked worriedly
"He said his flight will land in the next thirty minutes"
checking her wristwatch she added "twenty minutes now"
"Okay so?" He shrugged
"He's not coming alone Darling, Ben is also coming" she added
"You mean uncle?" He asked and she nodded
"Why? Must he come? And is Dad not coming here to spend time with us? Is it about business again?" He rushed over his question
"Listen baby" Linda said as she caught his hand in hers
"They're here for you" she sniiffed
"What?"
"They're here to take you away" she said while tears formed in her eyes
"Just promise me one thing" she paused and wiped her tears
"Promise me you'll always protect Lucy and her family, we owe them a lot"
Arthur frowned and looking confused he said "Mom, I don't understand"
"Your Dad and your uncle" she paused as a call came in, checking her phone, she glanced at Arthur and picked it.
"Hello"
"Oh really?" She faked a smile which made her chuckle
"OK, we'll be with you soon" she said and hung up. Dropping her phone the sad look came back to her face.
"They've arrived" she managed to whisper
"Mom what's going on" Arthur asked looking confused
Facing her soon with a serious but bitter look "be careful with your steps and your talk henceforth Arthur, never ever tell your dad and uncle anything about Doris and Lucy. Keep it a secret and..." She paused for a while
"You have no friend here"
