Chapter 26
It's been a week now and Doris has gotten more better, ready to be discharged. Brian had always make sure he visited her in the hospital everyday after work and this has helped them (Fred and Lucy) to inquire and know more about him and Lucy had, on one of the occasion commended him to be friendly which he was.
"You said she'll be discharged today right?" Brian asked Doctor Dan who smiled and nodded
"Yeah"
"Okay then" he said turning to Fred and Lucy
"I'll come pick her up today after work then, I hope you're all satisfied with that" he asked and they nodded
"No problem" Fred replied and he smiled at him
"Trust me I wouldn't stay long" he said giving Fred a light hug and left
Even though Brian has happened to be a friendly type whose features shows no harm or danger and Fred has been able to confide in him, he still instinct that they'll stay in the hospital till Doris is released and now she'll be..
Fred sat besides Doris who's sitting up on the sickbed while Lucy sat at the edge of the bed,
"You know you'll be discharged today" Fred said and she nodded with smile on her face
"I can't wait to leave this damn hospital, i hate its strong stench" she scowled disapprovingly and Lucy scoffed
"It's okay now Mom" she said
"And what about Lucy's board exam you told me about" Doris asked Fred
"It's coming up in the next four days but I need to go back tomorrow to get some things sorted out" So we'll be leaving together"
"okay dear" Doris said
"But are you sure you'll be okay alone cause I wouldn't be coming back soon" he asked and Doris smiled and nodded, then put out her hand to touch his chin
"I'll be fine Fred"

It was already fifteen minutes past six when Brian came back, he met with Daniel in his office and after some minutes he came out while Dan followed. Brian beckoned on them to let them leave while Dan followed them to bid them and wish Doris well
Brian was taking the driving seat while Doris was sitting besides him and Fred and Lucy at the back. The drive was not bored or silent at all as Brian do crack jokes every minutes which made Lucy and Doris laughed while Fred was busy and engrossed in his phone that he could barely listen to the jokes.
Finally, Brian drove into the compound and they all alighted. Brian's house is a very big and beautiful house, even though its not as big as Linda's.
"Welcome home" Brian smiled at them with a little bow
"Come on, let's go in" he said holding Doris' hand while Fred and Lucy followed them
The main entrance door was opened and entering the big living room, Two ladies who will be in their twenties came out from the kitchen, they were obviously maids as they were both putting on apron.
"Welcome sir" they both greeted and he wave at them and told them to show Lucy and Fred to their rooms each
"Where's your wife?" Doris asked as Brian led her to her room
"None" he muttered
Doris paused and faced him
"None?" She asked surprised
Brian rubbed his hair and replied
"I actually don't, I can't just find any suitable person"
"Brian at this age?" She asked looking surprised
"Doris, believe me when I told you I'll never stop loving you and I'm very happy for today but I'm sorry for your loss" Brian said with seriousness written all over his face
"This is stupid Brian"
"I know" Brian nodded and smiled at Doris
"I love you Doris" he said almost in a whisper
"Brian!" Doris half yelled, glaring at him
"Okay okay, I'm sorry" he quickly apologized
"Better" Doris rolled her eyes
