Falling Chapter 37

Chapter 37

 "Oh what did she say?"

"She said she wanna video call and see us both" Lucy said and Fred let out a little laugh

"Not in the hospital" he replied and Walker's phone buzzed, he brought it out and checked it

"Work is calling" he smiled and nudged at Lucy
"Nice to meet you miss pretty li..."

"Lucy" Lucy cuts in and he scoffed

"You caught me there, I wanted to say liar" he stood up facing Fred

"It's nice chatting with you man" he gave him a friendly clasp on the shoulder
"Take good care of her" he winked and Fred understand who she's talking about

"Wouldn't you go in and say bye to them?" Fred told him

He nudged at his wristwatch "Time is running out for work, I wish I could but I'll come back after in the evening"

"And Mrs Gold?" Lucy's eyebrow twitched, Lucy had find it had for her to talk freely with this man, maybe because he'd almost be her boss and her, his employee

"Don't worry, Mrs Gold came with her car and driver" he smiled and just then his phone buzzed again

"See you guys later" he said and left

"Should we go back in now?" Fred asked Lucy

"No, not until I call Mom back I guess"

"We're still in the hospital remember? And making the call here is telling her to ask series of questions"

"We can make use of the car then" she said pointing at their car

"Hmm, always idealistic" he said as he stood up
"Okay let's go" they walked up to the car and slid in, then Lucy made the call

"Hey Mom" she called as her mom's face pop in, she's on her bed just as expected. She'd told them that Brian had told her to mostly stay at home so as to be safe from those bad people and whenever she wants to go out which is sometimes, she had some guards to go with her.

"Hey Baby, how are you doing?" She smiled

   "Fine mum"

"But it took you a while to call back, are you really working now?" She asked with her brow raised then it dawn on Lucy that her lie has just put her in trouble, she's not a really good liar cause she could remember telling her Mom Fred had not let her work but now she'd told her she was at work.

"Yes Mom" she brushed back a tendril of her hair
"Wow, I'm happy he'd finally agree to let you work" she beamed and Lucy fight the urge not to roll her eyes.

"So how's everything going Mom and I guess you called me to tell me something"

"Yeah, I'm feeling so alone here" she said with her eyes up

"What? Why? Is he not around again?"

"Yeah, but I wish you guys are here with me, I miss you soo much" she said emphasizing the 'so'

"I miss you too Mom. But I hope he'd stop disturbing you"

"No. But I guess he's starting to accept it that way" she said, her face clearly not happy

"But do you like him Mom?" Lucy asked

Doris paused and Lucy realized tears had started to form in her eyes

"Hey Mom" Fred was the one who talked, joining them in the video call. He'd not involve himself in the video call but he'd been able to see his Mom from the other of his eyes

"Hey Fred" Doris called almost grinning then she flicker the tears away knowing she had to give answer to Lucy's question

"Though it might be nineteen years now but I still miss your Dad, I love him so much" she replied. Yeah, she'd wanted to talk about Dad that's why those tears had come to her eyes again. For a moment Lucy wondered what she'd missed not growing up with her Dad, her Mom had loved him so much and Fred had made it clear he missed him and want justice for his death so how will he have be? What kind of family will they have have if he'd not been killed? Maybe all those happy looking family that go out for picnic almost every weekend. The kind of happy family that join hands to do something together every Sunday, have dinner outside the house. The kind of happy family she'd always watch on TV but has not even grow up with.

"Hey Lucy you too stop crying" Fred's voice brought her back and she realized the tears that had started going down her cheeks

"Please stop that Lucy" Doris said and with the back of her palm she tried to brush the tears away but Fred had already start cleaning it with his thumb.

She'd almost broke down when he heard him say almost in a whisper "be strong"
She calmed her nerves and turned to her phone

"I'm sorry Lucy" Doris said looking pathetic

"No Mom, it's okay" she smiled. She shouldn't make her feel bad more

Doris nodded and replied "how I wish you guys can come back to Paris, even if it's for a visit.

Lucy let out a little laugh and replied "okay Mom, but don't miss us too much yet"

Doris laughed and replied "I'm serious and I hope Fred is there"

  "Yeah" Lucy nodded

"Then, he must definitely be hearing me. He shouldn't let me get sick again before he comes visiting" she laughed and Lucy laughed too

"I'll let him know that" she replied stealing a glance at him
"But I have to go now, remember i just came back from work" she said trying to hang up the call cause she knows that's what she has to do if she don't want the call to take forever. They'll never runout of words and their mother will never get tired of discussing with them.

"Okay dear, bye for now but call me later after your dinner" she smiled and disconnected the call, Fred had started opening the door when Lucy held his hand

"Hey wait!" She called as if she'd seen something terrible

"What's that?" Fred asked turning to check where she was looking at
"You saw a ghost?" He queried with his eyes back on her

  "More than that" she grinned

"What?" He jerked back and she laughed

"No, it's not that. I just got an idea"

"And what idea is that?" Fred asked leaning to hear her out

She took a breath in and asked"why don't we go back to Paris?"

  "Why?"

"Yeah, we want justice right? the incident took place there so if there's any place suitable enough to bring down the justice it'll be where the incident had taken place" she explained and Fred smiled

"More brilliant and idealistic than I ever thought"

"So we're going right?" She asked brightly

  "Maybe" he shrugged
 "But not with you"

  "What!"

"I and Carl got this so we already have our plan working out" he confessed
"I'm not ready to stake you anymore"
