Chapter 18
Arthur checked the time on his wristwatch again, it's been over five minutes Lucy had entered the restroom and she's not yet out.
He wondered what will have been wrong again and as he was about standing up to go check, his phone rang and sliding the screen the caller happened to be Anderson
"Hey Dad" he started
"Arthur I need you to be home now" he instructed
"What happen Dad? What's wrong?" He asked worriedly
"Just obey the instruction given to you first" he snapped and hung up
Arthur was more confused, he looked towards the restroom and back to his phone. He need to go now, he shouldn't waste anymore time if he doesn't want to be questioned of his whereabouts and why he couldn't come back earlier as instructed which could be including Lucy in the topic. He picked up his car key, stood up and left.
Just as he was driving out, Doris drove her car in and even though they passed beside each other they didn't get time to notice. Doris pulled the car to stop and hurriedly came out but as she hastened into the restaurant she did it in a uniform way so she wouldn't be suspected.
Getting inside she made her way to the female restroom inside and as she was going she was busy calling Lucy's phone. First she didn't pick and the scared Doris quickly call back again but she was still not picking.
"Lucy?" She cried out after entering the restroom
"Lucy where are you it's your Mom" she called pacing up and down in the restroom and just then, one of the toilet door was opened and Lucy came out shivering, she has cried her eyes out
"Oh my God, my Lucy" she called out as she ran to hug her
"Mom" Lucy called as that's only word she could find to say
"What happened? Where did you put your phone?" She asked
"I silenced it" she sniffed
"It's okay baby" she patted her
"But Mom, what's wrong?" Lucy asked
"Just let's get out of here first" she said as held her hand and they both walked out
Getting to Doris' car and seeing it'd been parked at the exact place Arthur had parked his car earlier, Lucy wondered where Arthur had gone to and why he'd left without her and without telling her, not even worrying about her?.
"Be fast, get inside Lucy " Doris commanded after hopping in and shutting the door.
Lucy entered the car and Doris started it, they drove out and was heading home peacefully without suspecting anything.
"When we get home, you're gonna tell me why you have to disobey a simple instruction" Doris started
"But Mom" Lucy frowned
"You don't even tell me the reason behind it"
"You don't need a reason as far as you obey the instruction that's all and you're saved"
"Mom, it doesn't make sense, just feel like I'm being grounded" she mumble
"Really? Then henceforth you're grounded"
"What? Mom, that's not even fair right now, what did I do?" She screamed out
"You didn't listen to your mom, to a simple instruction. Don't go out" Doris said the three words one by one hitting the steering wheel
Lucy noticing her anger felt sad and guilty. She bowed her head and said "I'm sorry"
"That's it" Doris snapped
"Just as expected and usual"
Lucy looked away from her and to the other side and was staring out for some seconds until she suddenly stopped and checked the car mirror again. She noticed a black car coming from behind them but what's strange was that the car slow down when they slow down, it speed up when they do and every direction they took it follows them.
"Mom?" She called as held unto Doris' arm
"Slow down a bit " she said and took her time to study the car very well, using the mirror she tried to check those who are inside the car and she realized they were putting on shades just like those earlier and putting on black suits.
"Mom!" She screamed out as she shook her hand
"We're being followed!"
