EPILOGUE!
Lucy sat at the end of the bed still staring at her dazzling silver ring which fit perfectly in her third finger. She was still engrossed in her daydreams, staring and smiling as she danced her fingers, especially her ring finger in the air.
'Hum, my wife is so happy now right?" Arthur's voice behind her jolted her back from her daydreaming.
"Hey, when did you come in?" She asked surprised
"When you were busy admiring your glamorous ring"
Her cheek fluttered but she tried to hide it
"But you know I still have complaints about it" she said as Arthur mounted the bed behind her
"What?" He asked in his rich deep voice and Lucy faced him
"It's too expensive, I mean buying a ring for twenty thousand dollars? It can feed a family for a year you know?" She winced and shrugged
"And it can fit my wife's finger perfectly you know?" He said leaning forward to her a bit
"But..."
"Shhh" he cut her shut sweetly with his forefinger on her lip
"You worth more than that Lucy, and I can even buy you the world if that's the only way I can express my love to you. I love you" he whispered in a way that sent Lucy's heart thumping rapidly with filled emotions that refused to burst out and before she knew it, he'd leaned over to her and started to kiss her.
Arthur and Lucy after starting their relationship never got married officially till three months ago which was so super exciting and splendid. They'd come back from their honeymoon and today, each family had to report in Linda's house for a get together party and family dinner.
"Hm Hm" Fred cleared his throat to draw their attention and they immediately broke off from their intense kiss.
"Hey big bro, when did you enter?" Lucy pouted
"When you were busy with your show" he winked and trying not to chuckle or laugh, holding everything back with a smile he said "Dinner is ready. You guys should come join for the dinner before you resumed your show again" he finally bust into laugh and winked again but he ran out when Lucy was trying to throw a pillow at him.
The dinner table is already set with various meals, cheeseburger, chicken caesar wrap, salad, chicken nuggets, fries and oatmeal which made ordinary staring at the table tempting and lustful.
"Iris, you should have the oatmeal, you'll need more of such foods" Linda said to the pregnant Iris as she gently settled it before her and Fred came in, although after overhearing Linda's words.
"Seriously, I'll need you in that aspect cause I'm not really good in selecting the type of food she'll need to be eating" Fred said still having his unremoved smile pilastered on his face.
"Oh, have you forgotten that the Iris you're even talking about is a doctor herself?" Linda said and they busted into laughter.
"Sorry I forgot that but that doesn't really mean cause she's not expected to stress herself or do anything as she is" Fred said as he drew out his chair which was beside Iris. He settled down on it and kissed Iris' bulge stomach.
"So you're only going to kiss the baby right?" Iris pouted in a jealous tone and Fred laughed and kissed her.
"So you're getting jealous of the unborn baby already" Anderson laughed
"Of course, let her" Fred laughed and Arthur and Lucy entered and took their seats which laid beside Linda's.
Fred and Iris had got married nine months ago and right now, Iris is seven month pregnant.
"Fred" Anderson started as they finished the dinner
"We have something to tell you" he said peering at Linda and Arthur who seems to be ready and satisfied.
"Hm, what's that?" Fred asked looking a bit confused
"We realised you and Iris had decided to stay in Paris after your wedding so we think it'll be better if our companies here are handed over to you"
"Pardon?" Fred asked in disbelief
"Hm, Fred" Linda started
"We know you guys had past through a lot, saving yourself, saving everybody and saving this company and there's no way enough to appreciate you and commend you for this so me..." she smiled and took Anderson's hand which she nestled on "...and my husband, we're retiring. Right now, we just need to enjoy the fruit of our labour and our age, just as Doris is enjoying hers right now in Dubai" she grinned more.
"So?" Fred asked
"We think you guys should take over our companies here while Arthur and Lucy can continue with the ones in New York. You become the CEO here, he become the CEO there"
"Wow, you're so sweet Mom" Lucy said and stood to cuddle her.
"Thank you" she added and Linda smiled more and pulled her for another big hug
"Thank you so much sir" Fred said to Anderson who stood up grinning from ear to ear as he stretched out his hand to Fred who also stood up and when he took the hand, Anderson pulled him in for a big hug.
"You're more than a son to me. You saved my life" he said emotionally patting his back
"You're a brave warrior, you never give up and I know you'll never, not in any situation" he added and when they broke the hug, he abruptly pulled away a flick of tears with his thumb.
Fred, Iris, Arthur and Lucy are in the living room watching TV and gisting when Fred's tab buzzed and he checked the screen only to realize it's Carl video calling him
"Hey it's Carl" he said to call the attention of others
"Oh Carl?" Iris who was beside him clamored
"Oh really?" Lucy exclaimed and rushed over to the loveseat Fred and Iris were sitting on. She stood behind them and popped her head in their middle to reveal in the video.
"Hey Fred" Carl laughed and waved his hand as the video began, he was obviously on the bed.
"Hey Carl, what's up?" Fred replied
"I'm cool"
"Hey Carl" Lucy called grinning from ear to ear
"Wow Lucy, you're seriously looking more beautiful, oh! Is the secret Arthur?" He asked and Lucy blushed
"I gat it" he winked and they laughed
"Hey how's Cynthia?" Iris asked
"Awwn, my pimping Iris, Cynthia is doing great"
"That's good of you bighead Carl"
"Woo! When did I ever acquire a bighead"
"Just now I guess" she said and they laughed again.
"I'm sure you guys get together dinner is going so great, I wish I'm there with you, I missed you all" he said faking a cry which made him look like one in Tom and Jerry and they laughed again.
"Don't worry we'll have one for our self soon" Fred said
"Wow, really? When? Next month?" Carl started excitingly
"Yes, next month will be good" Fred paused suddenly and his face swerved to Iris bulged tummy besides him before he shook his head and turned back to the screen "or not?"
"Or not? Why not?"
"Cause we can do that when I get my babies to be able to travel and you know traveling is a dangerous risk for someone pregnant" he said putting his hands over iris' shoulder to nudge her to him.
"So..." Carl started when Cynthia voice called from outside.
"Carl the baby is crying" she shouted and when Carl was still like, contemplating to go, there came her voice again
"Oh my God! Carl he's got a fever" she screamed again and Carl instantly dropped the phone with the screen to the bedsheets and run off. And when Fred and Iris were still trying to get it, the phone screened lightened up to Carl's face again and he quickly waved his hands to them and rushed his words " see you later guys, gotta go now. Bye"
He finished and the call got disconnected and before they started talking then there came another one again, from Doris.
"Hey mom" Fred and Iris chorused
"Hey dears, how are you all doing?"
"We're good Mom" Fred replied
"Mom!!!" Lucy who had left Fred and Iris's back came back with a shriek
"Oh my baby, how are you doing?"
"I'm good Mom, I miss you"
"Awwn, I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the get together dinner"
"No one blames you mom" Fred replied and a smile crossed her face
"I miss you all" she said emotionally and gasped when she noticed Iris' stomach
"Oh my God! Iris, the baby is growing so fast" she said and everybody laughed
"Oh I need to come home so soon, I can't miss when she'll be finally coming to this world and meeting the family"
"She?" Fred asked
"Yeah,you don't like she?"
"Of course i do, I only want to meet my baby as soon as possible" he said laying his hand on her stomach and they chuckled.
"Oh, I'll need to go now, see you all later and Fred, take good care of my baby till I come back" she said and Fred nodded which ended with the call disconnecting.
"I love her" Iris smiled when Fred dropped the tab and he chuckled
"Yes everybody loves her. She'd passed through a lot but she's so strong. She's one in a million..." he smiled and touched her chin.
"...Just like you"
