Chapter 8
Mariana
Lucy is already dressed to her comfort as she touched her face with little make up, she checked the time and it's thirty five minutes after nine, only God knows what she used to do spending fifteen minutes in the bathroom and heaven knows she'll have spend more than that if not for the rush.
She checked the mirror again while she put on her red lipstick and tipped it with her small finger. Getting satisfied now she brushed down her short black gown with her palm and knot her hair in ponytail. She nodded at herself and checking the time again she rushed, grabbing her overcoat and kissing Kim na na but paused as she was about to step out. A feeling of not coming back linger through her but she couldn't figure it out if it was because of Arthur. She couldn't even stand to face him anymore self, she couldn't figure out what might be running through his mind as his former reaction got her biting her lip, probably in regret. She paced back and grabbed her Teddy bear and picked up few important things, arranged them into one of her smallest suitcase then stormed out.
As she paced down the stairs she could hear Arthur's room doors opened and she jerked, her heart thumbed but she should have to maintain her poker faced as she'd promised herself so she kept going and alighting at the living room she turned to the dinning room to rush her breakfast which she's sure it must have been cold by now.
"Morning Lucy" she could hear him greet her as she buried her head into her food, eating ravenously
"Morning" she murmured without looking up. Looking up will have been an easy way of getting into another trouble. She thought. In fact since she still long to see his face, to see the handsome face who has been her first kiss so far.
"Going somewhere?" Arthur said as he sat opposite her on the table with the cup of coffee in his hand. He has gone to get some from the coffee grinder in the kitchen.
"Yeah, to my Mom" Lucy simply said as she continue with her food, her head still buried in it but this time patiently as she picked her eggs one by one. She'd feel him before her and once again her heart had ringed, her temperature has changed as all she prayed for was for him to leave before she could loose control completely. She wouldn't want to raise her head.
"She called me to come" she quickly added knowing he will ask 'why'.
"Oh, I see" he could hear him say again. Lucy felt he was staring at her as he held his coffee lightly with his left hand while tapping the other side of the cup with his right hand all resting on the table. She's through but she can't just leave this damn table without facing or seeing him.
"Oh damn it Lucy, you need to get somewhere by nine, remember you're in a hurry, stop thinking like a fool" she thought to herself as she made to stand up.
"Maybe he's not really looking at me, maybe I'm just assuming like a fool" she thought again as she looked up and her gaze met his. She froze, not because she'd betrayed herself by looking up but the way he was staring at her. For seconds, everything was silent and she could hear her breathe.
"So Absurd!" She thought and as she tried to fight of the urge of sitting and reading his face and expression, it made her remember everything again, especially his expression, she could remember he'd looked at her this way too yesternight and this has convinced her to assume what is totally wrong.
She stood up swiftly as she picked up her phone from the table. Arthur had wanted to say something. She knew he'd wanted to say something, probably start a conversation or an Apology for what happened yesternight but its too late for that as she grabbed the suitcase from beside her and paced out but stop abruptly by the door.
"I'll be leaving for sometimes, I need to venture out alone while I stay and help my Mom. Probably, keep her away from loneliness." saying these she walked out leaving Arthur in a confused state and uncertainty as he tried to figure out if Lucy is leaving because of him, to avoid him. He could sense her doing it this morning but he'd thought maybe he had to figure things out to her now and be opened but she'd planned and parked away? All because of me?. He kept asking himself as he fumble with the cup in his hands. He'd let the coffee get cold which mean he can't take it again.
The door clicked open and Arthur quickly stood up as he called out Lucy's name thinking she'd come back but the person turned out to be Nana. She'd resume back from her holiday.
"Expecting Someone?" She lightly said with her mouth curved in smile as she approached him.
"No"Arthur shook his head, obviously lying. It'd hit him how sad he is with Lucy absence and departure but he shouldn't show his weakness. he couldn't make it obvious.
"You're troubled, anything the matter?" She asked looking concerned
"No, nothing much I can't handle" he smile but deep inside he wonder if he can handle this...ok
To be continued...
