Lucy had finally come out of her room after letting out enough tears and already calmed.
"Hey Lucy" Iris called from the living room as she noticed Lucy walking in
"Finally, thank God" she muttered and smile at the notice of Fred who was coming with her
"Now you should eat your food" Fred instructed her as they got to the sitting room
"Hey! it's Korean movie" she exclaimed gladly at the sight of the TV and quickly rushed to sit on the couch
"Your food first" Fred instructed in a way that made Iris giggle
"Movie first" Lucy replied and her stomach grumbled. Woah, she's hungry, she stood up abruptly and headed to the fridge, after getting the cereal and milk, she came back to the living room only for Iris to approach and collect it from her.
"Hey girl, there's a better food for you to eat than this" she said as she made her way to the dinning room
"What?" Lucy pouted
"Bacon and eggs" Iris playfully replied
"Oh really?" She replied gladly
"Yeah, set for you on the dinning table" she said pointing towards it and by this time, Fred had left the room, that's just like him.
"But you know I can't eat it here by this time" she said nudging at the TV
"Of course suit yourself" Iris said as she sat down on one of the couch while Lucy later came with her food and sat on the couch beside hers
"Hm. Delicious" she said satisfactorily
"You like it?" Iris enquired
Lucy nodded with a mouthful of eggs "yeah, it reminds me of my Mom's food" she added and Iris blushed.
"So, am I that good in cooking?" Iris asked
"Excellent" she said with her thumbs up as she's also trying her best to concentrate on the movie she's watching but she'd started watching too late
"They've finish the movie" she said sadly
"Oh, that?" Iris said
"They've started since so I think you came late" she smiled
"Aoh!" Lucy winced with the last bacon in her mouth
"You ate like you've never ate before today"
"Yeah, I guess I was starving"
"You were" Iris smiled again, that sweet innocent smile that always make her pretty face more attractive and seductive
"Yeah, so we should talk about something" Lucy grinned at her
"The last time I checked, you used to accuse Carl of being too chatty and loquacious but now..."
"I'm the one doing that right?" Lucy cuts in and Iris shrugged
"Hm, well maybe I should stop it then" she scowled
"Come on, who told you to?" Iris said sorrily
"I'm just teasing you" she said almost in a whisper and they laughed
"Really?" Lucy said
"So can I ask you a question then?" She added with her legs on each other balancing her side on the couch now
"Sure, fire on" she nudged at her
"Okay then" she snapped
"How do you guys get to know each other, I mean Carl, you and Fred?"
"Hmmm" iris strayed off as if she's thinking
As in hmmm?"
"Yap, hmm" she snapped and they laughed again
"Okay I will start from Carl "Okay I will start from Carl cause they met first and that was at the bar when they were still doing part time work"
"Really?" Lucy asked, getting enthusiastic
"Yeah, Fred only did it when he was a freshman so by the time he got to his second year and left the bar, Fred and Carl had been very close and became best friends"
"Wow, so cute. I mean for my brother whom I have never see with a friend throughout his elementary and high school. He used to stay indoor alone during the holidays and when he go out, he goes out alone or with me, no friends, no best friend and not even a girlfriend"
"Oh, really?" Iris' face lightened up, seems she's likes to know more about Fred
"Yeah. So what about you?" She asked
"Well, I've not finish with Carl's"
"Oh, continue"
"Well, Carl and I were friends at high school"
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, Carl is an orphan so he stayed with his grandmother. He wished to further after high school but his grandma could not afford it so he started working in the bar. He and Fred became friend and when Fred got to know his story, he took the responsibility to sponsor him"
"Wow" Lucy let the word slipped from her mouth
"Yeah, wow" Iris smiled and as she was about talking again her phone rang and she picked it to check the caller
"Oh shit!" She frowned
"Work?" Lucy guessed and she nodded before picking it. Lucy let her mind digest the stories she'd just heard as she concentrated his face on the TV but, though not intentionally, she could derive what Iris' call is all about through her conversative part
"Oh I'm sorry I need to go now" she said as she dropped the phone
"Emergency?" Lucy guessed and she nodded and stood up
"We'll continue with it tomorrow" she said hurriedly giving only few seconds for Lucy to nod at her word before she rushed inside to grab her car key and a coat
Iris had just entered when Carl came in, actually came back from work.
"Hey Lucy" he grinned as he walked up to her, handling a shopping bag, she pecked her cheek
"Got you pizza"
"Hey you should learn how to respect a lady" Lucy frowned
"Oh I'm sorry for that" he laughed but looked and sounded serious
"And next time you try that on my sister again, I'll get that mouth of yours chopped down" Fred's voice came from the dinning room, obviously he'd come take a cup of water
Carl was about talking when Iris rushed out and was about biding Lucy before Carl's question came in
"Going out?"
"Yeah, to work" she hurriedly replied, she'd not notice Fred's presence in the dinning room
"Oh emergency I guess" he winced and she nodded and made to leave before hearing Fred's voice and question, the one that got her surprised
"Can I drive you?" He asked stepping into dinning room
"Drive?" Carl's question came with surprise
Iris' heart fluttered in surprise and happiness as her cheek quickly turned red but she need to hide this and she's going to work, an emergency so she wouldn't want to be distracted
"Don't worry, thanks" she quickly rushed over her statement and before anybody could say Jack Robinson she'd rushed out.
"Oh Fred, you're really becoming a man" Carl grinned a broad smile at him
"The last time i checked, I'm not a woman before" Fred replied as he headed to the kitchen while Carl followed.
Such like him. Lucy thought as she sank back into the couch to start a movie. Some minutes later, they came back with Fred holding a cup of coffee.
"You should get changed and a shower after work Carl, not here disturbing people" Fred said as he walked up to sit on the couch
"What are you doing?" Lucy asked as he sat down
"Trying to see if I can see a movie" he said nudging at the remote in Lucy's hand
"Woah Really!" Lucy exclaimed almost in a screech
"Strange" she muttered under her breath as she stared at him in disbelief
"You shouldn't stare at me as if I'm turning a ghost or growing a horn on my head" he scowled and sipped at his coffee
"Oh you are..." Lucy was cut short by the call from her phone, Carl had already left the sitting room. Lucy picked the call and placed it to her ear. Seems a question confirming who she was came on the line which she replied to positively and not long an exclamation slipped out of her mouth before she dropped the phone worriedly
"Lucy, are you okay? What's that?" Fred asked her worriedly and she replied
"Iris is in the hospital, she had an accident"
"What!"
