Chapter 20
"Set them ablaze" he replied and moved away from them a bit then the first one who'd gone to check the car earlier was about proceeding into the car to get something when a gunshot came from nowhere and the bullet, into his abdomen, he screamed holding unto his tummy and fell to the ground while others were terrified, they wonder where it has come from as the two of them was on the verge of turning back, there came another gunshot again and hit the leader just above his chest.
The almost empty car raced up to them, revealing itself as the hidden villain all the while and as it sped up to them the other of the remaining two raced up to it as he was busy shooting at the car's body but he intended going to the front to lay his hand on the front glass but the driver was in such a speed that he couldn't help but hit the fellow then he stopped but there seems to be nobody in the car. after several gunshot at the car's body and glasses by the last man standing, he decided to move forward and close to the car hoping he'd successfully shoot and kill whoever the driver has to be but as he was on the verge of opening the car door.
It got opened unexpectedly and this pushed him to fall flat on the floor as Fred alighted from the car, he shut it back and got hold of the guy who's about getting his gun which had fallen a bit away from him. Fred stopped him from getting the gun as he stepped harder on his hand then bend down on him. His frowned face showing disinterest in him as he started punching him in the face, getting okay with that, he picked up the pistol himself, laying the guy's palm bare on the floor, he coldly pointed the pistol at it making it rest on his palm
"You motherfucker and idiots wanna take away all my family now?" he snorted and pulled the trigger making the guy winced in pain
Still with anger he placed it on the second palm and shouted
"Wanna take away the only happiness you left for me now!"
He pulled the trigger again and the guy screamed.
Just then he heard someone cried from Doris' car and he left him and rushed to them.
Lucy is awake but she woke up with a slight headache and just small cut on her forehead while Doris who'd hit her head on the wheel had blood rushing down from her head through her temple and down to her jaw.
Lucy was feeling dizzy when she woke up and she seems not to remember what was going on again as she scrutinize the whole place with her eyes but on seeing her Mom, she screamed out covering her mouth in her palm. Everything dawned on her and the whole memories came to her as she lifted Doris' head whose face was on the wheel up.
"Lucy, Are you okay?" She heard a voice asked behind her as the car door got opened. The voice was familiar, so so familiar but it's not possible, it can't be who she was thinking cause the person is not around and should be in school and if ever he was asked, called or begged to come home, he wouldn't.
Lucy had her body moved slowly a bit to get who'd called and to her astonishment, it's the person he didn't believe it could be, her brother.
"Fred" she screamed as she quickly embraced him but the latter wouldn't take that longer especially when he saw Doris situation.
"What's happened to Mom?" He quickly said as he got into the car
"She got shot" Lucy confessed in tears holding unto the car's door
"What?" Fred said observing her bloody head then in a swift he carried her out of the car and up in his arms
"We need to get to the hospital as soon as possible" he said making his way to the half gunshotted car. Thank God the whole scenario had not taken place in an urban area but more or less a forestry.
Fred laid her at the back seat why both hoped in the front seat.
"Which hospital is the best here so far" he asked as he started driving
"Hospital?" They heard someone murmured from the back and Lucy quickly turned back just to see Doris struggling to sit down but she was in pain, its obvious as she winced repeatedly holding unto her head.
"Mom?" Lucy called
"Are you okay Mom?" Doris heard Fred asked trying to get a view of her but at the same time, too cautious in his driving
"Fred?, is that Fred?" Doris asked with her eyes widely opened now
"Yes Mom. Just rest now, don't overstress yourself, I'll soon get to a nearby hospital"
"Hospital?" Doris Screeched suddenly
"Who told you to go to hospital?"
"You're wounded Mom, we had an accident" Lucy cried
"I'm okay just go home now" Doris rolled over her statement
"But Mom you..." Fred started but was cut short
"I said HOME" Doris screamed and Fred quickly made a turn
It was a terrible sight as Doris house was already overcrowded with both pacifiers, observers and some press and reporters trying to get the details of what has happened to the burning house, how it has happened and who and how many victims burned in the house as they impatiently wait for the fire extinguisher to finish quenching the fire so they could make their investigation.
Fred and Lucy could sight something wrong as they drive closer to the house and as they get more closer Doris also could sense everything was not alright.
Fred pulled over the car in front of the house just before they could get to those peoples around it. Fred alighted while Lucy also did the same, Doris opened the door but was too weak to come out and Lucy helped her to her stand and with few steps she gambled forward with tears rolling down her cheeks.
Fred on the other hand stood still, though seems bewildered he clenched his fist as his childhood taunting memories came back to him;

He'd been screaming calling his Dad who is some distance away from him and the next thing, he was outside on someone's arm while watching the house his Dad was in getting burned

He had nurture this taunted memory as a young child of seven who had seen nothing bad but his Dad secretively and wickedly killed right before him. He'd hoped and grow to crave for nothing but revenge and this was only putting a remembrance. He wondered if his mother and sister would have got killed had it been he hadn't arrived earlier
The trio was brought back to life by flash of the press' camera and the reporters questions throwed to them inaudibly and unendingly, seems some of the neighbours had made them known as the owner of the house,
"Are you really the owner of this house?"
"How did this happen?"
"Do you have any clue of who might have done this or was it an home accident?"
Lucy's eyes became more red at this question, she knew it can't be an home accident as they haven't cook at all that morning cause they have no more foodstuffs. Doris tears had no end and it has started to affect her, affect her stressed body and her head, slowly she let go of her self as she collapsed right in Fred's arms, this gave way to more flashes from the press as they just noticed the blood from her head. Lucy fearfully grabbed her mom as she kept calling her in tears.
