The end of the night was spent with Lucy video calling Iris and explaining the whole story to her while Fred also in his room was on Skype with Carl.
The next day, Lucy, surprisingly had woken up as early as half past seven. She checked her phone and was surprised at what time it was. Not being able to catch more sleep, she pulled the bedsheets off her body and alighted from it, she slipped her foot into her fluffy slippers and headed into her bathroom to brush and wash her face, then she went out to the living room.
"Good morning Miss" Kim bowed as she finished cleaning the table
"Morning Kim, how was your night?"
"Fine" she replied and was going to clean the dinning
"When did you wake up?" Lucy asked walking to the dinning room with her
"I'm sorry miss, I woke up late?" She pleaded with a bow again
"Late?" Lucy asked surprisingly and checked the time, it was just five minutes after eight
"What time is that?"
"Seven o' clock" she said and Lucy bursted into laughter
"So that is late?" She asked still smiling
"Wait, what time do you wake up before?"
"Six o' clock or some minutes pass, so I could clean everywhere before anyone wake up"
"And does Mom know about this?"
"No. She do stay late in her room and seldom come out early"
"Oh. But waking up too early and doing all these everyday could be bad to your health. It's not compulsory you wake up too early to do them"
Kim chuckled
"it's not too much to do, I'm used to them and moreover, Mrs Linda do free me for the rest of the day except for the lunch and dinner I have to make"
"Oh, it's okay but..." She stopped and sniffing something, she asked "is there anything on fire? Seems it's burning"
"Oh my goodness!" Kim exclaimed and ran into the kitchen
"What's that?" Lucy asked following her into the kitchen
"It's the toast" she said bringing out the burned toast and Lucy frowned at it
"Bad, bad" she said shaking her head
"I'm sorry I..."
"Yeah, you're used to the works and they are not too much for you" Lucy scoffed and nudged at the toast in her hand
"I'm sure they wouldn't like to take that for breakfast..."
"I can make another one"
"Don't worry, I guess you should let me help you with this while you finish other works"
"Thanks" Kim half smiled and drop the toast in the bin. She went out to finish with the cleaning while Lucy took up with the breakfast.
Kim came back after she was through to join Lucy in the kitchen and there they started working together, talking and sometimes found themselves laughing. Kim once cut herself accidentally and Lucy helped her wrap the finger up with the adhesive bandage from the first aid box in the kitchen. Henceforth, she did the necessary things while Kim helped her.
All the while,When they discussed about Kim and where she's from, she couldn't believe Kim was not of her age as she'd assumed but she was two years younger. Though she doesn't really look too old facially but her stature was just somehow more mature or plump. Kim had came out from a poor family with a younger brother. As the first daughter and child, she works to support her family and save for her dreams.
The table was set by them and just as they were doing so, Doris entered the dinning table and took her seat while Fred joined shortly after. Lucy pulled her seat while Kim was about leaving.
"Hey Kim" Lucy called her
"You should join us"
"Don't worry Miss, I'll just take my breakfast in the kitchen or my room" she protested
"She's always refusing to join me on the dinning table" Doris confessed
"Come on Kim, nobody is complaining. We should at least have all the family dine together once" she smiled at her and she smiled back, she walked to them lightly and pulled the seat beside Lucy and sat on it
"Thanks" she muttered but Lucy just ignored it and served her food while they ate.
Fred went upstairs just immediately they finished eating and when Lucy and others had finished, she helped Kim in washing the dishes and went upstairs to Fred's room. They spent almost all the morning discussing with Carl and Iris through video call.
"Lucy, you need to stay here with Mom not to make her suspicious of anything. Let me do this, at least for today" Fred explained to Lucy after the end of the video chats.
Lucy sighed and nodded
"But be careful"
She instructed lowly and Fred nodded at her.
"What about the night stuff, how am I convincing Mom about that?" He asked confusedly
"Don't worry about that, I'll take care of it but you'll need to leave in the noon to meet with Carl right?"
"Yeah"
"Okay. Let me go now" she said and before leaving she extended extended her hand to him
"You'll need this" she said wearing a black like wristwatch on his wrist
"It's a tracker" she said signaling at where the watch is supposed to be, "press that when you're in danger and I'll get the message"
"You're not coming down there Lucy, are you?" He asked with terror in his eyes
"No, I'm not coming alone. I'm coming with the cops" she explained and Fred's face relieved and he nodded
"But be careful" he said and Lucy smirked and let her hand hit his shoulder
"Sure" she tilted her head, turned and left.
